Introduction
Twenty days, two countries, one unhurried route. This tour travels the full length of Vietnam from south to north, rewards you with three beach days on Phuket, then finishes among the temples, rivers and ancient capitals around Bangkok – with international flights from the United States included.
It begins in Ho Chi Minh City with the Cu Chi Tunnels and a two-day boat journey through the Mekong Delta to Cai Rang floating market. A flight north brings the lantern-lit streets of Hoi An and the temple ruins of My Son, then imperial Hue and the Old Quarter of Hanoi, before a night aboard a cruise boat in Halong Bay. In Thailand the pace drops on Phuket’s beaches, with Koh Phi Phi an easy add-on, before Bangkok’s golden temples, Damnoen Saduak floating market, the River Kwai railway at Kanchanaburi and the UNESCO ruins of Ayutthaya close the journey.
