It’s one of the most famous pagodas in Cao Bang, Da Quan Pagoda is situated in Da Quan village, Hung Dao commune, Hoa An district which is used known as Da Quan hamlet (named after Da Duke Mac Ngoc Lien – a Mac talented commander), Xuan Linh commune, Chau Thach Lam (a name in French domination period), opposite to Vien Minh pagoda (was founded in the Mac dynasty). There are two big bells of 4 thuocs (1 thuoc = 24m), 5 tac and circumference of 8 thuoc, 9 tac each which is estimated thousands of kilograms. Every spring and autumn ritual festivals, the bells are rung making sound like thunder that can be hear from hundred mile distance.
On the bells, cast votive tables written in Han script singing the praise of Chau Thach Lam and the rehabilitation of Vien Minh pagoda after the Le dynasty seize the power in Cao Bang.
Annually, on January 8th and 9th, Cao Bang people gather to go on a pilgrimage in the pagoda.
