This great day out takes you on a remarkable cruise on the Red River, stopping off for a short cycle ride to a pagoda, meet local villagers and visit handicraft villages. To top if off you will enjoy a 5 course lunch on board whilst slowly cruising back to Hanoi!
The Red River, Song Hong in local parlance, winds its way through the northern Vietnam countryside like a benevolent, if occasionally moody, mother. Like her southern sister, the sultry Mekong, the Red bathes the delta farms with nutrients for crops, and provides water for the ancient craft villages along its banks.
Leaving Hanoi at approximately 8.00am, you will be transferred to the boat, the Jewel of the Delta located on the banks of the Red River. You will begin your cruise through the countryside and have plenty of time to relax before making your first stop at Ngoc Thuy Dock.
Transfer to modern western-made bicycles as you embark on a ride along the winding country roads in the lush Red River Delta, visiting But Thap Pagoda on the way. From here continue cycling to An Duong Vuong Dock where you cycle from back to the boat. You will then have a car transfer to Dong Ho Folk Painting Village, famous for the traditional ‘Dzo’ paintings which originated 300 years ago in this area. The people here are one of a few who understand and make this ancient art.
You will return to our boat where a delicious five course Vietnamese lunch will be served on board as you cruise downstream. In the afternoon, dock near another handicraft village where a vehicle will take you to Bat Trang Ceramic village to visit the local market, workshop and Van Van museum of ancient objects. Then bid farewell and thank the crew for the day. Around 4:30pm, you will board your vehicle and head back to Hanoi.
